IPL 2021: Solid Mumbai Indians look like the most confident side this season, says Pragyan OjhaFormer Mumbai Indians off-spinner Pragyan Ojha is eagerly waiting for the new Indian Premier League season to begin and reckons that the defending champions are once again the overwhelming favourites to win the tournament thanks to the balance in their squad.

But Ojha, who played for MI for 4 seasons between 2012 and 2015, cautioned MI to not be overconfident as Rohit Sharma’s side heads into IPL 2021 looking for the sixth title and third in succession.

“MI looks a complete side, they haven’t changed much in the past couple of years. Even in the auction this year they were looking for replacements.

“Their entire team is set, and they look a very solid side. With back-to-back titles in 2019 and 2020, I think they look like the most confident side. They should have confidence but not be overconfident,” Pragyan Ojha said on Sports Today.Former India wicketkeeper Deep Dasgupta on the other hand, is of the opinion that the team which gels well together in the tournament, and plays as a unit, has the best chance of winning it.

“I say this before every IPL that the tournament is all about how the players gel together. You can have 11 amazing individuals but as a team they might not gel because they don’t have the time to get to know each other.

“The biggest challenge is how everyone gels together, what kind of form they are in, what kind of mental space they are in.

MI broke the jinx of winning the IPL title in odd years in 2020 when Rohit lifted the trophy for the fifth time. This year they have the chance to set another record by becoming the only team to win the title 3 times in a row if they do manage to reach the final and then cross the finish line ahead of their opponent on May 30.Mumbai Indians will kick-start IPL 2021 by playing against Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on April 9.
